The Coal India limited is a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, established in the November 1975. As per the official website of CIL, the company is supported and maintained by around 18,384 executives and officer whose 3rd pay revision recently published through an office order no. CIL/C5A (PC)/ Pay Revision 2017/2972 on dated 08 August 2018.
The Coal India Limited 3rd PRC order is applicable for the Board Level and below Board level executives of the CIL and it’s subsidiaries Companies listed below.

The Maharatna Company CIL and all of its subsidiaries PSUs executives will get the uniform fitment benefit of 15% with effect from the 01.01.2017. The formula for the fitment benefit represented here

Rate of Increment
The yearly rate of increment and on the promotions will be of 3% of basic pay. The effective date for the increment will be uniform & set to 1st April for all executives of the CIL.
House Rent Allowances
Most of the Coal India units are present to the rural areas nearer to the Coal mines. So most of the executives who are posted in the field duty i.e. in the mines, in this case, resides in the quarters provided by the Company. Hence the Company has built up the accommodations for the all of its employees. They won’t be eligible for the HRA. The employees who don’t take company accommodations get the allowances, the HRA rates are shown here in the table

There are places where the PSUs can’t provide accommodations, in such cases the employees can take a house on lease, and the company had set the ceiling for the Leased rent. The company will pay the amount for leased rent up to the ceiling prescribed in the pay revision order.

Other Perks for Coal India Employees
- Work-based hardship duty allowance paid to employees who perform duty in the underground mines. The ceiling of the allowance is 12% of basic pay.
- Location-based Compensatory allowance (10% for the NE, Ladakh regions)
- Non-Practicing Allowance (20% for medical officers)
- Superannuation Benefits has a ceiling of 30% and it includes the provident fund, Gratuity, Post – Superannuation Medical Benefits and superannuation pension scheme.
