Salary of Bihar Police Sub Inspector, Constable and DSP after 7th CPC

Bihar police department is under Department of Home Affairs and it is headed by Director General Of Police  Headquarter at Patna. The whole Bihar State divided into four zones named as, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga    Muzaffarpur, and Patna. The Zones are further subdivided into ranges. Each police zone in Bihar is headed by either Additional Director General or Inspector General.

The district’s headquarters which are headed y Superintendent of Police comes under the control of Ranges and each range is having around three to 6 districts.

Police Constable Salary

The last Bihar police recruitment was held in the year 2017 for total 9900 Posts.

In order to be a Constable in Bihar, a candidate must have the minimum qualification 10+2 from government recognized school.

His/her age should be between 18 to 25 Years. The upper age limit is relaxed for the SC,/ST/OBC/PwD candidate.

The minimum height of the candidate should be 165cm for general category candidate, 162cm for the EBC and 160cm for the SC/ST candidates. In the case of a Female applicant, the minimum height is 155cm.

Selection Procedure

There is also a written test conducted for the Constable post. The exam paper duration is 1 hour in which each candidate provided 100 number of questions. Each question will carry one mark. Minimum 30 marks are compulsory to qualify in this examination. Based on the performance in the examination merit list is prepared and total 5 times candidates will be called to appear in the physical test.

Physical Screening test

It is three following three stages and a candidate has to secure minimum marks in each stage.

  1. Race 1.6 Km for Male & 1Km for Female- 50 Marks
  2. Shot Put (Gola Fenk): 25 Marks
  3. High Jump: 25 Marks

A single merit list category wise is prepared on the basis of performance in physical test qualified candidates. The top candidates as per requirement published in the advertisement will be offered called letter to join Bihar state police department in the pay band of 5200-20200 Grade Pay 2000.

The revised basic pay for the constable after 7th CPC will be 21700.

Bihar Police Sub Inspector

The Sub Inspector post is a group C post in the Bihar. The post is filled by both promotions from the Head constable post and direct recruitment from the open market. Recently BPSSC has issued Bihar Police SI Recruitment for the posting in Excise department. If you want to be an SI in Bihar state, you should be a graduate or equivalent degree from the government recognized University. The age of the candidate should be between 20 to 37 years.

The age is relaxed for the reserve category applicants.

Both preliminary and Main exam will have negative marking system. So each wrong answer will deduct 0.2 marks from the total.

Physical Screening test

A physical screening test is qualifying in nature and no marks will be awarded.

Based on the performance in the written examination a category wise merit list will be prepared.

After final selection, the candidate will be appointed as Sub Inspector in the pay scale of 9300-34800 Grade pay 4200. As 7th CPC has already been implemented in the Bihar state. Hence the revised basic pay for the Sub Inspector is 35400. You can check the details of salary in the following table.

Bihar DSP Salary

Like a Sub Inspector post, DSP also filled by both direct recruitment and through promotions. The direct post vacancy examination is advertised and conducted by the Bihar Public service commission.

The minimum eligibility criteria are Graduation or equivalent qualification from government recognize University or Institute.
