Nowadays students are again interested to join government position at various departments due to the high salary, job security, and peace of mind. After the implementation of 7th CPC for central government employees and 3rd PRC for PSU executive, the minimum gross pay is more than 25k for the lowest Group-D or Class-IV post.
When to start preparation
It is really essential to start preparing for the government job recruitment exam at proper age and class. I have observed that most students decide for examination after their graduation course and that not perfect action. Actually one should take the decision just after 12th or 1st year of graduation.
Apart from the above one should also set the target that what competitive exam he/she would prepare. Once you have decided it, just find out the similar syllabus exams.
Prepare for the similar type of exam
Suppose I have a dream to join the MP police as a Sub Inspector officer. So I will find out the similar type jobs that have almost similar selection process as MP police recruitment.
So what other examination I can try
- MP Police constable
- Other nearby states SI recruitment like UP, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Chhattisgarh
- Above mentioned state Constable recruitment
- Sub-inspector recruitment through SSC
- And all class IV jobs of MP state
All above examination have almost same physical screening test and similar kind of written test as well. So if you target these exams the chances of getting selected are more.
Now you have to find out what job you want to prepare for. The next step is finding out the jobs whose selection process is same or similar.
I have listed the job names of the similar type of vacancy examination in the following table
|Name of Exam||Minimum Qualifications||List of other exam to try|
|UPSC||Graduation||State PSCs, SBI PO, IBPS PO, State Forest Examination etc|
|Engineering Services Examination||B.E./B.Tech.||GATE, ISRO, State Engineering Services, State Electricity Boards, Railway JE, Railway SSE and other Independent examination of PSUs, Bank Specialist Officer|

I have already mentioned that one should start job preparation just after the 12th class. If you decide it just after 12th, there is a high probability that you will get a government job before your graduation. Here is one real example I want to share with you.
Let me tell you one example. One of my close who had less than 60% marks in 10 as well as 12th class. He was just an average student. He had taken admission in BBA for graduation. In the first year of graduation, he has joined the PSC coaching. He didn’t have the aim to crack the PSC but just wanted a job in government sector. He had been studied around 2 to 3 hours daily.
He started filling up the application form for all group D post in the state of MP. In his second or third attempt, he got selected in the post of Khalasi in Railway at age of 21 years only in the final of graduation.
If you too take a decision on the 1st year of graduation and start a regular practice for government recruitment examination. In one or two years of time, you will be able to grab a good job in the government department.
I hope this will help you to get a dream job in Government sector. If you like this, please share with your loved ones who are in the first year of graduation or trying for a government job.
