Do you know the Indian Engineering Service Officers salary, perks, facilities?

Along with the IAS cadre, Indian Engineering Services is also a much sought after career. The salary structure of IES also is similar to IAS pay structure. However, the Job profile and working condition of IES officers can differ from that of IAS Officers.

IES cadre meets the engineering and techno-managerial functional needs of the Indian Government. The officers of the cadre work for the center, state as well as the public sector in some cases. Recruitment is done on the basis of All India competitive examinations followed by an interview.

Lakhs of candidates appear for the IES Examination and the positions available are limited.  Hence there is intense competition for these positions. UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) conducts the examinations as well as interviews for the selection process. The examinations are conducted in three stages. Reservation exists as per rules. Candidates from reputed institutes such as IITs and NITs are also among those who compete for these highly prestigious positions.
