The Age Criteria for the JPSC Asst Professor post is shown in the following image.

- Must have 55% Marks in the Post Graduation (5% relaxation for SC/ST Candidates)
- Must have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) or Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET) or equivalent test accredited by UGC. (Not essential for the subjects which are not included in NET or JET lists. )
- Regular Ph.D. Degree
The selection will be based on the academic qualification, experience and the kind of performance the candidate exhibit during the time of an interview. The interview would be of 15 minutes and the screening of the candidates would be done on basis of the documents submitted by the students.
For Ph.D. students- the candidate will be selected on basis of their published work, awards received, and books published by the university, national institutes and by the standard publishers. For authored book 1.25 points will be credited, for co-authored book 1.00 would be credited to your scoreboard and for chapters in the edited 0.75 marks will be credited.

There is a one year probation period for this post. Hence on the basis of the performance of the individual candidate, they may be permanently appointed in the post.
