Madhya Pradesh PSC Syllabus & Selection Procedure

Madhya Pradesh is the second largest state in India. It needs talented manpower to run the state administration smoothly.  MP Public Service Commission conducts examinations and interviews for recruiting the Govt staff.

Challenges faced by the Govt staff relates to access to remote interior villages due to lack of approach roads and other infrastructure. It is difficult to monitor the law and order in these villages and in case of emergencies providing the prompt response is a big challenge.

MP PSC Selection Procedure

The MPPSC selection process includes

  • Preliminary examination
  • Main Examination
  • Physical efficiency test and physical measurement in case of police dept vacancies
  • Personal Interview

MPPSC Preliminary Exam

The MPPSC preliminary exam involves answering two papers:

  1. General Studies
  2. General Aptitude

Each paper has a hundred questions 2 marks each.

Preliminary Exam Syllabus

The preliminary exam involves following syllabus in general:

Paper-1: General study and awareness:

General science and environment, international events, Indian events, history, freedom movement, Indian geography, politics, sports, economy, Madhya Pradesh GK (geography, economy, culture, history, sports etc), human rights, social legislation, SC/ST act.

Paper-2: General aptitude:

Mental ability, IQ, logical reasoning, numeric, graphics, decision skills.

Personal Interview

Personal interviews are conducted by the panel of selectors. Interviewers of the selection panel will judge the suitability of the candidate for the particular position, by asking questions such as what inspires you to choose a public service career in the state govt. General Knowledge about the province of Madhya Pradesh, as well as about India may also be assessed.

Panelists may ask about accountability,   service to weaker sections, morality, fairness, gender equality, untouchability, malnutrition, ethics and fundamental rights as per the constitution. They might assess your ability to lead and inspire the teams or work in teams. Sometimes the questions may cover your individual achievements, as well as your team achievements.  The interviewer may assess your Leadership style as well as the risk-taking capability. Ability to focus on available information, analyze information and apply the tools to come to useful conclusions can be tested.

The personal interview, in this case, carries 175 marks.

The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission final selection will be based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination and Personal Interview Marks.

Physical Efficiency Test

Selection for certain Govt departments (e.g.  Forest dept, as well as police dept) will include Physical Efficiency test as well as physical measurement. Candidates must meet the standards of physical endurance as well as physical measurement.
