List of Maharatna, Navratna & Miniratna CPSEs in India

Public Sector undertakings (PSUs) or CPSEs are mainly divided in Maharatna, Navratna, Miniratna Category I & II on the basis of their financial performance, net worth, revenue, profit etc.  Guidelines for the criteria are issued by Department of Public Enterprises which is a nodal department for all CPSEs.

As a graduate engineer, one should be aware that which Company comes under which category or status. A Maharatna Company criterion is based on a purely financial health of the company. They provide best CTC & salary in hand pay & perks as compared to another category of PSUs. So it should be your first choice for a Government Company Job. Navratna should be 2nd & Miniratna should be the 3rd choice for Government Company job.

List of Navratna, Maharatna & Miniratna PSUs in India

Eligibility criteria for Grant of Maharatna status

  1. It should be A Navratna Company
  2. Listed on Stock exchange
  3. It should have an average annual turnover of 25000 crores for last 3 years.
  4. It should have an average annual net worth of 15000 crores for last 3 years.
  5. It should have an average annual net profit after tax of more than 5000 crores for last 3 years.
  6. It should have the significant Global presence.

Maharatna Company list

As on June 2016, there are 7 Maharatna CPSEs whose names are

Eligibility criteria for Navratna PSUs

  1. It should be a Miniratna Category-I & Schedule A PSU
  2. It has obtained ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’ rating under the Memorandum of Understanding system in three of the last five years, and have composite score of 60 or above in the six selected performance parameters, namely
  • Net profit to net worth
  • manpower cost to total cost of production/services
  • profit before depreciation, interest and taxes to capital employed
  • profit before interest and taxes to turnover
  • earnings per share and
  • Inter-sectoral performance
