Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)
DSP post is a prestigious post in MP Police. Candidates must appear for the competitive examination conducted by MPPSC. Age limit is 20 to 25 years. Written test includes preliminary exam and final examination followed by an interview.
Salary: Scale 15600 – 34800 monthly grade-pay 5400 (Before 7thpay commission)

Minimum Educational Qualification required:
The candidates for the post of Constable and Head constable in MP Police must have passed 10+2 from a recognized institute/board. ( In case of Constable (Driver) post pass in 10 the standards is adequate)

Sub Inspector position:
Minimum academic qualification required:
Candidates must have passed Graduation degree from a recognized university.
For Sub Inspector/ Assistant Sub Inspector( Radio) post minimum qualification is recognized diploma(3 years) in a recognized polytechnic in electrical, electronics and Telecommunication
For Sub Inspector/Asst Sub Inspector(computer) the minimum requirement is a diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology, from a Govt recognized Polytechnic College.
For SI/ASI (Tech) post the minimum education required is a diploma in mechanical engg from a recognized Polytechnic Institute.
For Assistant Sub Inspector post the candidates must have passed 10 + 2 examinations of a recognized board.
Age must be between 18 to 25 years( Relaxed for certain categories as per rules)
Physical standard for all positions
Height for males must be at least a minimum 167.5 cm, and the chest measurement between 81-86 centimeters. Minimum chest expansion 5 centimeters. Weight must be according to height.
Height for Females should be at least 152.4 centimeters
(height requirement may be relaxed in certain categories as per rules)

Duties and responsibilities of Sub Inspector, ASIs, Head Constables and Constables
Main duties include maintenance of law and order i.e. to ensure that the state is ruled according to the law. Policemen patrol the sensitive areas for prevention of crime and protect weaker sections of the society. During VIP visits they have to provide security to VIPs. In view of rising trend in cybercrimes, police stations have specialists to detect and prosecute cybercrimes and banking frauds.
Sub Inspectors are in Charge of Police stations and supervise the Constables and Head Constables. They receive complaints from the public, register First Information Reports(FIRs), investigate the cases, maintain records of investigation, interrogate accused and take statements of witnesses and detain and arrest the accused as per law, ensure that human rights are not violated and produce the cases in the court.
Duties also include management of emergency situations such as major accidents, earthquake, floods, draught, an outbreak of contagious diseases, terrorist attack, and riots. They are also required to work for environment preservation prevention of water, air and sound pollution, traffic control. During meals and festivities, they may have to ensure orderliness and crowd control.
Written examination for Sub Inspector Asst sub Inspector, Constable post will be conducted by Professional Exam Board of State of Madhya Pradesh(MPPEB). MPPEB is responsible for notifying the examination, designing the syllabus, setting question papers, the conduct of examination, evaluation of answers and publishing the results.
Candidates will be tested for both the languages(English as well as Hindi) proficiency, grammar, vocabulary, use of vocabulary, verbal skills.
GK and intelligence
Test syllabus will also consist of law, logical reasoning and intelligence, sports, famous personalities, politics, Current affairs and general awareness (GK), numerical and mathematical questions, geography and history, the culture of the state of Madhya Pradesh.
In case of technical positions, the syllabus will also include Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry of 10+2 standard.
All candidates must be of sound health free from the disability such as knock-knee or flat foot. Eyesight must be normal with aspects if any. Should not be color blind.
Physical endurance (Fitness) examination
A for male candidates: 800-meter race must be within 2 minutes and 40 seconds, the long jump must be minimum of 13 feet and shot put must be minimum 19 feet.
B for female candidates: 800 meters must be within 3 minutes, 30 seconds, long jump at least 10 feet and shot put must be 15 feet.
