Junior Engineer in the Railways is a group C post with Grade Pay of 4200 under 6th CPC. If you check the Group C post profile, most Government departments recruit Junior Engineers for the supervisory work in Electrical, Mechanical and Civil maintenance department. The JE recruited by Centralized on online India basis and have to appear on the open competitive exam.
RRB Junior Engineer Salary
As the last JE recruitment was issued for the pay band 9300–34800 GP- 4200. And we know that 7th CPC has already been implemented in all central government departments. Hence, now onward the Railways JE also get the appointment in the revised basic pay.

Minimum Qualification: Diploma in Engineering
Age limit: A candidate who is between 18 to 32 year old, is eligible to apply for the post. The age relaxation will be applicable for all reserved categories as per government directives.

The Government of India every year announces the productivity linked bonus during in October or November. The last year in 2017 the govt paid the 78 (Basic plus DA) days salary as a bonus to non gazetted employees. The ceiling for the bonus is 17951, it also means that the maximum amount payable is 17951.
Like any other central government employee, the railway staff is also eligible for provident fund benefits. Actually, the provident fund is deposited in employees PF account. The 12 % of basic pay plus DA from employees salary and the same amount from the employer is deposited in the employees PF account. Here basic pay plus da for Junior Engineer is 37878, hence EPF will be 4545 per month. An equal amount will be deposited by the Indian Railways. So total Rs 9090 will be deposited in the Junior Engineers EPF account. As per govt rules, 3.67 percentage of employers contribution will be in the pension fund.
House Rent Allowances
After implementation of 7th CPC, the new House rent allowances rates are 9%, 8% & 27% for the C, B, and A class cities of India. The rates will further increase to 10,20 and 30% when the CDA will touch 50% of Basic pay.
But the question is, do railway employees are eligible for HRA. The answer is Yes as well as no. The Indian Railways has it’s residential quarters in most of the Cities and small towns. Those employees are residing in the government allotted accommodation, they will not be eligible for the HRA. And those who are not living in staff quarter they will get the House rent allowance benefit with their salary.
So HRA applicable to Junior Engineer will vary from Rs 3186 to 9558/- per month.
