Delhi Police Salary

Delhi Police cadre has very attractive salary structure consisting of Basic + Dearness allowance+HRA as well as TA. And other benefits include uniform allowance, LTC as well as paid holidays. Salaries are revised according to Pay Commission reports.

Delhi Police Job Profile

Most positions except for the ministerial, stenographer and store clerk positions, involve law and order duty consisting of onsite crime investigation, day and night patrolling of sensitive spots, VIP security, crowd control, registering of FIR, action on complaint and handling of emergencies and accidents. Head constables and Constables have to be alert all the time and maintain vigil round the clock.

Eligibility Criteria

Physical fitness and medical standards

Male candidates, in general, should have a minimum height of 165 centimeters, minimum chest expansion of 4 centimeters,   Chest measurement of min 78 centimeters to 82 centimeters (weight according to the height).

Female should have a minimum height of  157 centimeters (Weight according to height).

Height requirement as well as chest measurement relaxed in case of hill area candidates/reserve category candidates etc.  as per rules.

In case of SI Exe  (Male): height should be at least  170 centimeters ( relaxed for ST candidates and  Hill area candidates) and chest should be 80 – 85 centimeters.

In case of Head constable (stores clerk) post the male candidates chest measurement between 80 and 85 centimeters.


In case of  Delhi Police  Constable EXE -Male, the minimum height should be 170 centimeters and chest measurement should be between 80 centimeters and 85 centimeters.

Minimum educational qualifications and age

Sub Inspector Male and Sub Inspector (Female)

Candidates for Sub Inspector Exe  (Male)  and Sub Inspector  Exe(Female) must have a graduate degree from any recognized Indian University. Age: must be at least  20 years old and should not exceed  25 years.

Assistant Sub Inspector (  Stenographer)

For the ASI Stenographer position, the candidate must have a degree from a recognized university as well as shorthand typewriting speed of 80-40 for English language and 80- 30 for the Hindi language. Age: should be at least 18 years old and should not exceed 25 years.

Head Constable (Store Clerk)/ Head Constable (Ministerial)

For these posts, the candidates must have passed Intermediate/  10 + 2 level senior secondary exam with science, conducted by a recognized  Board and should be able to type with speed of 30 words per minute in case of  English words and 25 words per minute in case of  Hindi words.

In addition H C( Store clerk)  position, he/she  must have  a minimum two years of  stores experience in radio-related work, in  stores in a PSU or a commercial organization of repute,  in the jobs requiring the  very good   knowledge  and understanding of  equipment  spares(electrical/radio/electronic) indenting, procedures related to paying bills,stores accounting as well as returns and related matters.

Age:  should be at least 20 years old and should not exceed 27 years.

 Delhi Police Constable EXE ( Male)  and  Delhi Police Constable EXE(Female)

For the DP ConstableEXE(Male) position, the candidates must have passed Senior secondary grade examination conducted by any recognized board,  Age: should be at least  18 years old but not exceed 24 years.


For theDP ConstableEXE (Female) position the  qualification  required is same as DP Constable (Male), except that relaxation  is available for daughters of  serving (applicable to retired or  deceased personnel   as well)Delhi Police personnel ( including  multitask staff of Delhi Police), in which case the minimum requirement is 11th  class pass.

Age: minimum age is 18 and maximum age limit is 24 years.

Recruitment and selection process

Candidates are selected  for these posts through the following stages

  • Screening exam (written)
  • Test of physical fitness and efficiency, endurance
  • Medical examination
  • Personal Interview

Candidates should check the specific syllabus from Delhi police recruitment website and question papers of previous years.

For Head Constable and Constable posts Questions mostly relate to mathematics and numerical, current affairs, GK, and logical reasoning ability problems.

  • Reasoning and intelligence part  may contain information collection and analysis, special and visual aptitude, comparison, relationship analysis, observing ability, problem diagnosis, and decision making,
  • Mathematical part may include numerical, weights and measures(mensuration), simple problems in trigonometry- algebra – geometry, and others.

For Sub Inspector post  the examination  may include:

  • Numerical problems such as compounded interest, calculation of profit or loss, work speed and time
  • Intelligence /Reasoning (logical) aptitude questions include Venn diagrams, alphabetic and numeric series and missing number, correlation,
  • English language questions can include comprehension, grammatical part, verbal skills, and use of vocabulary
  • GK section and general awareness can broadly consist of general law, GST, Commonwealth games, national sports, politics, Acronyms, significant dates for Delhi, budgets, our constitution, 5yr plans, famous writers and Scientists, award winners, military and civil honors. Heritage, culture, and history

Physical endurance test will generally comprise the speed running as well as high jump and long jump for all categories of male and female candidates.
