If you are preparing for State Bank of India Probationary Officer examination you better know that SBI PO job is a bit different from the jobs of other bank Officers. As we all know, the SBI is a universal bank and operating in various types of dimensions of banking.

During the probation period, any kind of bank related activity can be assigned to perform. Selection procedure

BSNL JTO recruitment based on the GATE score which will be Technical and hard to crack the exam. There is no interview and the GATE merit is criteria.

Where the State Bank of India Probationary Officer has its separate exam to qualify for the job, but it is non-technical and comparatively easy to crack, then Pre, mains, Group task or GD and personal interview will be taken.

The Gate exam is straight technical and held by IIT. The level of exam will be high and it is hard to crack the Gate examination. Compare to that, SBI PO’s exam is non-technical and easy compared to GATE.

There are the 4-5 level of test in SBI PO’s recruitment procedure but, if you did not perform well in your entrance exam GATE, then there is no chance to get into BSNL JTO. State Bank of India maintaining its own level and the hardness by the customs exam pattern for PO.


Initial Basic Pay

Current Starting Basic Pay of Probationary Officer is 27,620/- with 4 advance increments. The SBI PO’s salary would be between 7.55 lakhs per annum to 12.93 lakhs per annum. It depends on the place of posting and some other factors. We can assume, an entry level State Bank of India Probationary Officer may get over 1 lakh per month.

In the case of BSNL JTO the minimum pay is 16400/-. The junior or fresher will be fixed at the minimum of the pay scale (16400 p 40500).

Here thing to note in the Initial basic pay is if it is high then it will help you get a good allowance and future pay revisions. So compare to BSNL JTO, SBI PO will get always get paid high.

Cadre

SBI PO is Group A class-I post where the BSNL JTO is Group B class-II post. Class I means lower management post, authoritative and Class-II is a supervisory post so

SBI PO will get the authority that BSNL JTO not able to achieve at the entry level.

Promotions

BSNL JTO profile gets promoted to SDE then AGM & up to DGM -Deputy General Manager. There is a separate management cadre recruitment in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited which is also called Managment Trainee. This Management Trainee post in BSNL is equivalent to Probationary Officer of State Bank of India. A SBI PO, after 2 years of probation period get the Officer Junior Management post and get promotions in every 3-4 years and can

HRA:

Here you can see the difference why SBI JO is better than BSNL JTO. The initial pay will reflect here in HRA. BSNL JTO can get max HRA of 30% of basic pay and the basic pay of this profile is 16400/- so you can count the HRA. SBI PO is allowed to get leased accommodation of 30000 in metro cities. Along with this, the pay is revised after every 5 years. In SBI Officers get the benefit of pay revision in every 5 years.   Other than this you will get Medical Benefits, Travel Allowance and Other Miscellaneous Benefits like you can get Housing Loan, Car Loan, and personal loan at a concessionary rate of interest.

Job Nature and perks

SBI PO is an indoor job, no door-to-door sales, stable work environment and you can encash privilege leaves.BSNL JTO job can be both Outdoor and Indoor. From this point the SBI PO can be a better choice.

Conclusion:

For engineers, it is easy to crack SBI PO exams compare to GATE exam. And salary, facility, allowances are better than BSNL JTO profile. You will not get the authority of class-I in BSNL JTO as you get in SBI PO profile so go for the best.

  1. My brother is working in SBI as PO which he got through internal exam. He was sent to outdoor for marketing also. He goes at 8.30 -9 .00 in morning and comes back at 7.30-9. In SBI cross selling is more and nowadays there is higher level poking to achieve the target. So there is more work pressure.
    I got BSNL JTO this year but I will try to get a better job which I hope to do so by studying alongside. Sir is the work timings of BSNL JTO fixed?

    • Congratulations. If you don’t have any job in hand, BSNL may be a good choice but not the best. It would take 15 to 25 years for a JTO in BSNL to become a class-I officer. Whereas SBI PO is a Group A officer since their appointment. Hence social status and promotions are better in SBI as compared to BSNL.
