The Uttar Pradesh Police force was formed in 1863. It holds its headquarters in the city of Allahabad. It is interesting to know that the Uttar Pradesh police force is the largest in India, divided into 8 zones and 18 police ranges. All these headed by the Director General of Police (DGP).
The Uttar Pradesh police force is responsible for maintaining law and order throughout the state of Uttar Pradesh.
The recruitment is organized by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board.
The UP police constable recruitment exam is conducted for the recruitment of two separate groups of constables.
- Reserve Citizen Police: they come in frequent contact with the public. They maintain general law and order of the state.
- Reserved Territorial Armed Constabulary: they are established to deal with more serious law and order situations. They do not come in contact with the general public, except in cases of public events or natural calamities. The Haryana Armed Police comprises 5 battalions.
UP Police Salary
The Uttar Pradesh police constable is recruited on the pay scale of 5200-20200 with Grade pay of 2000. As 7th CPC already been implemented everywhere, hence the Salary of UP Police constable also been upgraded. The new basic pay of freshly recruited Police constable after 01.01.2016 will be 21700.

How to get Job in UP Police
In order to get a post in the prestegious job in the department, a candidate can join at four levels. Mainly at Constable, Sub Inspector, and DSP. Interested candidate have to start the Physical preparation well before the examination. I personally know most of the students who easily clear the written test round but couldn’t qulify the PET.
