The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, is the coordinator for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering for the year 2019. Candidates are preparing hard to get top rank in the exam as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is not only providing the opportunity to pursue the higher degree in top colleges but also offer the chance to get Job in the biggest Central Public Sector Enterprises.

PSU recruitment history

Earlier most of the Public Sector Undertaking was holding separate competitive test for the hiring of engineers. They also used to appoint candidates from Campus placement from renowned colleges.  Now the GATE has made the whole recruitment process natural for Government Companies as well as for the job seeking engineering candidates. The interested Government enterprises issue notification (After releasing the GATE Official Advertisement) for the vacancies in their company. Graduate Engineers have to apply for GATE test, and after that, they can fill the online job application form from the official website of the PSU.

PSU Status

The Central Public Sector Enterprises are divided into Maharatna, Navratna & Miniratna Companies on the basis of financial performance. This is like a reward for a Government company to show the ability to perform well in the competitive market. There is one more classification for the Public Sector Enterprise, according to that, PSUs are classified into 4 schedules i.e. A, B, C, & D.

Any Public sector enterprises pay the executives & nonexecutives according to the Pay Revision Committee guidelines laid down by the Government of India through the Department of Public Enterprises. And from the last two PRC rulings, the stress on the financial affordability has been more for offering the handsome salary to employees. So, the Companies who are having the sound financial performance from the last few years will get a good package from the CPSE.

PSU Pay Scale

Most the Centre Public Sector Enterprises appoints newly recruited executives on following pay scales

E1 ===> 16400-40500 BSNL JTO, BBNL ET

E2 ===> 20600-46500 MTNL, SAIL

E3 ===> 24900-50500 NTPC, PGCIL, BHEL

The CPSEs which are recruiting engineers on E3 (24900-50500) pay scale, they are proving the highest packages. Only these Public sector undertakings are offering more than 10lakhs CTC for Graduates. So you must give first preference to the companies which have notified 24900 pay scale on their advertisement. Second preference may be given to E2 (20600-46500) scale and last for E1. Now we can see that PSUs jobs are very lucrative and secure one but do single exam like GATE is offering equal opportunity to appearing candidates for CPSEs jobs.

Single GATE Exam Advantages

Graduates don’t have to appear in the individual Public Sector Enterprises examinations. So they don’t require to prepare for multiple examinations for various CPSEs jobs.

The Public Sector Undertakings are saving huge expenditure which was made to recruit new & fresh talent to the Company. Now they just have to organize Group Discussion Or/and personal Interview for the final selection in the Company at lower management post.
